Level controls propeller for powders or granulars
SEM paddle level switches are used for level control in tanks containing powdery or granular materials.
Operation:
The operating principle is very simple: a low-speed synchronous motor drives a paddle located inside the tank. When material surrounds the paddle, it slows down the rotation, triggering the command contacts. A second microswitch interrupts the motor’s power supply.
The opening or closing of the electrical circuit allows activation of acoustic or visual signals, or control of silo loading, conveyors, screws, etc.
Available versions:
- Standard SEM
- SEM 1”1/2 GAS with threaded hub
- SEM 24VDC/S with inverter board: uses a brushless AC synchronous motor controlled by an electronic board integrated into the switch housing, converting DC voltage to AC. The use of a brushless motor solves the common problem of DC motors, whose lifespan is limited due to brush wear.

-
The device is mounted on the external wall of the container, either on the side or on the top.
-
The material must be able to move freely around the impeller, which must not be hit directly by the material flow. Install deflectors if the load on the impeller is high (high-density material or material prone to block movements).
-
Thorough protection against dust entering from the tank.
-
Mounting via flange with 6 holes, or upon request with a 1”1/2 GAS threaded hub.
